Introduction

Tankograd Publishing has spoilt Armorama by sending us advance copies of their titles due for release in March this year. This time around Tankograd Publishing has released 4 new titles in their ‘In Detail Fast Track’ series of titles covering the Aussie Land Rover Perentie, M88A2 Hercules, RG-31 Mk 5 and Husky VMMD. This review takes a look inside the cover at the RG-31 Mk 5.

Contents

This title consists of 40 pages inside a glossy card cover and is printed in a panoramic approach as opposed to the usual portrait approach.

Review

This series of books in the ‘In Detail Fast Track’ line are printed in English only, the text itself only takes up a couple of the 40 available pages. The text itself does provide a surprising amount of information and even looks at the ‘Spark’ system. The text basically looks at where the RG-31 came from and where it is today as a vehicle system. Also included in this section is a list of technical details on the vehicle that could be used for checking accuracy of a model. The only thing missing in this title are some 1/35th scale drawings that would have been a great inclusion.

The photographs in this title are of a very high standard being in focus and of good clarity. The areas of the vehicle covered in this title breaks down as follows;
General walk around
The Hull
The Hull Roof
Front Axle
Rear Axle
Muffler
Transfer Box
Interrogation Arm
Interior
Spark
VOSS
These photographs do a very good job of assisting a modeller in all aspects when it comes to accurate depiction. The interior photographs being an area of this title that will I believe be the most helpful due to the difficulty in finding good quality photographs.

Conclusion

This title is another very good title to the ‘In Detail Fast Track’ series of books. The low cost of the books in this series make them an affordable to all modellers, even those modellers on strict budgets. The photographs have very good captions explaining details of what each specific photograph shows. The text at the front of the title provides useful data should you wish it, while at the same time being short enough that it will not tax the reader. As I consider this title and other in the series to be aimed specifically at the modeller I would like to see scale drawings make an appearance.
SUMMARY
Highs: High quality full colour photographs provide great general and specific detail that will help the modeller.
Lows: None of which I am aware.
Verdict: The low price and high quality photographs make this another fine title to add to your library.
