Introduction

This was actually my first ever build of a Takom kit, and those of you who have been following the build blog, will know that it’s a really excellent kit, with only minor issues in the assembly part.

I chose to build a well used vehicle from the Syrian civil war, and I got lots of inspiration from pictures found on the internet.

Painting and weathering

I primed the entire model with Chaos Black from Citadel (Rattlecan) and all the base colors were from the Tamiya range. All the details, such as tools, tracks, AA machine gun, wire, etc., were finished in Humbrol colors.

The weathering was achieved using washes/filters of different oils, Humbrol colors and white spirit, which were gradually build up in thin layers. Mud and dust was made of pastels and various products from AK Interactions.

The only marking on this vehicle is the writing on the front fender, which was copied from the decal sample with a soft white pencil. I really hope our Arab speaking friends here on the forum won’t be laughing too much.

I’ve had a really good time with this project, and it certainly won’t be my last Takom kit in my stash. I highly recommend this kit for both modern AFV builders and modelers like myself, who just want to build something not Dunkelgelb as a base coat.

Hope you like the pictures, and please do comment or ask and I’ll do my very best in answering.

SUMMARY
Highs: A very high level of detail. Individual track links.
Lows: The protective cage around the head lights is unusable.
Verdict: Takom has provided us with a superb kit, with excellent engineering and lots of crisp and sharp details. There’s very limited clean up and the parts fit almost perfectly. It will appeal to a wide range of modelers as this type of tank was widely used.
