Introduction

BRAVO*6 added 4th kit to Round the Corner series, this time Vladi sculpted another great Tet Offensive scene from a Vietnam War photo.

Review

Inside company’s standard cardboard box with a photo of the painted scene on the front cover, bodies and other small parts are seperately inserted into transparent zip-lock bags.

Figures are sculpted in 1/35 scale by Vladimir Demchenko and come as full body figures with some personal gear cast on. Arms, some of the field gear and weapons are given as seperate parts. Resin casting is great as in all BRAVO*6 figures with no serious mistakes or a need for a detailed cleanwork. A few seamlines on the arms and rifles need to be sanded. Details on the uniforms and weapons are sharp and clean.

USMC

Posed to lean forward to grab the rifle on the ground, figure comes in 11 parts.
  • He wears standard Marine uniform of jacket, trousers, canvas-leather combined boots and first pattern M1955 Flak Vest. Cloth folds and wrinkles on the jacket and trousers, cargo pockets with flap covers, trotters inserted inside boots, boot laces, details of flak jacket like doron plates, zip front closure, elastic cartridge belt holder on the waist and rifle guard are nicely sculpted.

Some of field gear are cast on the figure. He carries a M1941 USMC Haversack on his back, a First aid kit pouch and two M16 ammo pouches on sides.

  • Head shows nice facial details and hair.

  • Arms with long sleeves. Cloth folds and cuff with single buttons are well sculpted.

  • M43 E-tool ; Folding shovel will be assembled over the backpack.

  • M16A1. Left hand is cast on the forestock of the rifle and carries a wrist watch.

  • M-1956 one quart canteen - 2 pieces

  • M7 bayonet in M8A1 scabbard - 2 pieces

  • M1 Helmet with Mitchell pattern camo canvas cover and helmet band

    DEAD VIET CONG

Posed to lay face downwards on the ground, figure comes in 5 parts as body, 2 arms, rifle and canteen.

  • He wears typical Viet Cong clothing in pajama type cotton shirt with single buttoned long sleeves and no pocket trousers with upfolded trotters. VietCong wore no standard uniforms, they were dressed in the same type of clothing as the local peasants or farmers, and blended into the landscape when their mission was complete. Clothes can be painted in various colors like black, grey, khaki, OD green, brown or tan. Footgear is Ho Chi Minh sandals; an improvised footwear worn by VC made out of cut up truck tyres for soles and cut up inner tubes for straps. Facial characteristics of an Asian, straight hair, cloth folds, straps of sandals and details of toes are well defined. A Chicom chest rig secured with straps tied on his neck and backside, an empty canvas two-pocket grenade pouch with strap crossed on right shoulder and a folded blanket on the right back are sculpted on the figure.

  • Arms are posed to lay on both sides of body.

  • AK-47 ; Right hand of the Marine is sculpted on the rifle’s grip.

  • NVA Water bootle in cloth cover.
    Conclusion

A great replica of a Tet offensive scene. It can be used together with other Round the corner or Tet 68’ series BRAVO*6 figures or build a larger scene with Ace of Spades series.
  • SUMMARY
Once again, Vladi inspired from a Vietnam War photo and sculpted a great replica of a Tet Offensive scene. Sharp and clean details, not much need for a cleanwork.
