The Tasca U.S. style water and fuel can (Jerry Can) set has been out for a while and is a very useful set for accessorizing any WWII vehicle carrying US style jerry cans.
This set comes in a small open end box with a clear plastic window allowing you to see the parts inside. The kit includes one page of simple instructions and eight sprues of parts. There are no sink marks, no ejector pin marks, and no flash visible on any of the parts.
Four sprues are of the jerry cans themselves, carefully molded so that there is no seam across the bottom. Each sprue has two water and two fuel cans, with the fuel cans having markings on the sides. There are eight each of the water and fuel cans.
The other four sprues each contain the top portion of each can, again carefully molded so that the lids can be displayed open, and to preserve the raised weld seam around the top portion of each container. The two water can uppers have raised lettering under the handles. The upper is also recessed at the back end to allow for a better fit for the handle. The handles themselves are solid on both ends, again to allow for a neat finish. There are two flip top style caps for the water containers and two screw top caps for the fuel cans.
There are four construction steps for each container. Be careful to make certain that you are using the appropriate parts for the water and fuel containers. The plastic is hard, but not brittle. Parts came off easily with cutters and I used a #11 blade to clean up the attachment points. The can upper has a raised weld seam around the base where it meets the lower, so be careful not to remove this. All the parts fit very neatly. The molding also allows for the inside of the cans to be easily painted so the cans can be shown with the lids open or off. I assembled mine closed as they will be in transport mode.
This is a very simple and nice looking set. The assembled product is much nicer than any other I have yet seen. The only thing more I could ask for is a set of distressed and dented cans. I purchased my set online from Lucky Model for about $11.00, shipping included, and highly recommend this set.
