introduction
Need something to finish off that diorama building that just looks naked sitting there on it’s base? How about some ivy to climb up a wall or a tree trunk? Silfor has just the stuff for you, "Summer Ivy."
Summer Ivy is a Silfor product which are well known in the model railroading world and are gaining quite a foothold with diorama builders everywhere.
the kit
The "Summer Ivy" comes packaged in a re-sealable plastic bag. The ‘ivy’ measures 3.75 inches X 6 inches. (9.525cmX15.24cm)
The ‘ivy’ is on a fine net like material (not unlike other leaf type Silfor material.) The material is pulled apart, stretched, cut or otherwise manipulated into the size and configuration that the modeler requires.
The leaves replicate ivy very well in 1:35 scale although they could be used in other scales as well. The would probably make good a looking oak tree in 1:48 scale.
As the product title implies, this set, "Summer Ivy,” comes in the deep green color of ivy during the summer months.
Conclusion
Perfect, tiny leaves that replicate ivy very well. This will be a great detail addition to any diorama.

SUMMARY
Highs: Good looking and easy to work with this product can be used successfully in several scales depending on what you are depicting.
Lows: Like other Silfor products, a bit pricy for the amount of material you are getting.
Verdict: You really can’t get any pre-made groundwork that looks more realistic in scale than Silfor products. They basically ‘wrote the book’ on scale ground cover.

I took a "creative block" hiatis for a couple years - 2011 to 2013. I wasn't active in the modeling world. During tha...

I've been very impressed with all the Silfor products that I have used. The long grass clumps and sea-foam tree material are excellent. It's nice to see a US distributor carrying some of these products now. My last order from the UK was pretty expensive with the shipping. Unfortunately, Tank Rat's AFV Depot (listed as the providing distributor) doesn't list the Silfor products any where that I can find. Hopefully it's just an "up-date" issue on his site and the products will be easy to find soon.

I've ordered from Scenic Express a couple of times and have been impressed. I've used the ivy, goldenrod, and buffalo grass on my Gurkha base, and heather, cattails and prairie tufts on another (mostly finished) base.
