Introduction

Resicast recently produce a very nice set of 4 gallon flimsy fuel cans which I reviewed on site here not long ago.

They have followed up that release with two new sets; 35.2348, a bulk load or stowed set of fuel cans and 35.2347, a set of damaged flimsies and wooden boxes a review on which will follow shortly.

This is a look at the bulk load.

The Set

The set comes packed in a the standard 2 zip bag format showing the product detail, manufacturers detail and a picture of the unpainted built set. The kit is cast in a light grey resin and supplied are sufficient parts to make 2 stacked sets of cans, three cans high.

You get two tops where the fuel cans are moulded as a block and to make up each stack 4 sides a further 2 rows high. The stacks are simple to build and need little clean up.

Depending on you needs you could produce 2 x individual stacks of cans, three cans high, one stack six cans high, or one stack one can high and one stack five cans high. Alternatively add a sheet of plastic to the top of a two stack and cover it with a trap and you could have one stack, one stack high, one stack two stacks high, and one stack three stacks high or any other combination you choose.

There is no need to cut of the pour stub from the stack block unless you want too. These could be used on the ground, in a truck or where ever you choose and make for a very useful set of accessories.

The hollow bottom will help keep the weight down if you are going to load a set into a truck.

The fuel cans carry marking for Shell and MT 80 cans which are randomly spread thought out the load. There are 48 fuel cans per block x 3 – 144 cans per stack x 2 being 288 fuel cans in theory in the two stacks. Remember the marking on the sides of the cans otherwise you might join the sides upside down!! Detail on the top of the cans is nicely done.

Normal precautions apply when working with resin.

Conclusion

Another new item not available before adding excellent potential to any diorama you might want to build or vehicle load for that empty truck. Good thinking on their part as two very nice figures are available to utilise the cans.

The hollow base makes for easy clean up and assembly and also lessens the weight of the load.

With 3 alternative sets of flimsy fuel cans now available and two fine figures to boot; fueling up in the desert or Italy has just got a lot more interesting.

Greying slightly, but young at heart. I've been teaching adults off and on for most of my life. Left the services in 85 and first started modelling in about 87 for a few years. Then I had a long spell when I didn't build anything (too busy) and really just got started again during the summer of ...
